Fibro removal cost in Sydney
What affects the cost of removing fibro (asbestos cement sheeting) in Sydney, with published guide prices.
What is fibro?
Fibro is asbestos cement sheeting. asbestos.nsw.gov.au says flat sheet fibro was the most common type and was made from the 1940s to 1987 (source). It is non-friable (bonded) when in good condition.
How much does fibro removal cost?
There is no fixed price; a removalist needs to inspect. One Sydney contractor publishes guide ranges for bonded removal of about $1,500–$3,500 under 20 m², $3,500–$8,000 for 20–50 m², and $8,000–$18,000 for a roof or full cladding (Gabrael 2026 guide). See our cost guide.
What makes fibro removal cost more?
Area, height and access (roofs and second storeys need more equipment), whether the sheets are broken or weathered, whether anything is friable, and disposal fees at the landfill.
Do I need a licensed removalist for fibro?
For more than 10 m² of non-friable asbestos, yes. You need at least a Class B licensed removalist (asbestos.nsw.gov.au). See the 10 m² rule.

Sydney Asbestos Quotes is a free referral service. We are not an asbestos removalist and we do not hold an asbestos removal licence. We pass your request to independent removalists who say they hold a current SafeWork NSW licence, and you should always check a removalist's licence yourself before you engage them.
